So... I was playing ddr the other day, and I was thinking about how long i've been playing it. It's been about 3 years for me. Thats a fair amount of playing time and I probably of average skill compared to many of the ddr players out there now. I wonder how long it took for them to acrue their skills? It seems to vary between people, but some people are just naturally good at rhythm games. Some people just worked really hard (well... played really hard) and have experience on their side. Some people work so hard and never get as far as a skilled person who hardly has to work at all. It's unfair, but that is the darwinian lottery system of life. On a number of occasions I see the more skilled people mocking or making fun of the less skilled. Even I am not innocent of mocking those of less skill, but I usually feel bad of thinking such things. Well, I'm not sure where I was going with that, so... off I go.

happy mother's day! not that any of my friends are mothers... i dont think so anyways...

anywhoodles, time to put up some random lj post! i just had some crazy thoughts i wanted to throw out. so... what if somebody told you to jump out of a plane with a parachute? it would be exciting, yet scary for most people. so would you do it? what if... lets say... there was a 0% chance of you dying. would you still jump out of the plane? if for some reason you are immortal for those few minutes of plummeting and landing there is no possible way for you to die, would you jump out? i think that most people would go for it. but would you still have that fear? i suppose that there might be doubt. now... what if somebody told you to jump out of a plane, and you had a 100% chance of dying regardless of a parachute or any sort of savior like superman to come and rescue you. i think most people wouldn't jump then. well, my point was looking at the odds of dying. a 0% chance as opposed to a 100% chance to die. i think that most people wouldn't worry about the 0% chance, but they would avoid the 100% chance. but i was wondering about the actions that would be somewhere inbetween... what is the point at which an action becomes... risky? 50% is pretty high. even 25% is scary... people do some stupid things. i guess i just often wonder why. do they just... not think about these things? hmm, i guess people enjoy taking those risks...

okay... so i was asked an interesting question by a customer today. mr brown came in, dropped his clothes, and asked this question about physics. he was asking about light. just asking if light is like dark matter. i was a little perplex by his question, but... he explained it by defining a light source and an object. the source sends off the light, the light hits the object and we see this object. he was sort of asking what happens inbetween, when the light is projected into the object. like we can't see that stuff and thought that maybe there was dark matter there. i don't think i recreated (re-created?) the scenario right. well anyways, i gave him the typical physics explanation about how the source projects photons into the object, and the photons bounce back into our eyes and our eyes tell our brain what we see. the photons move too fast for our eyes to see, so it merely appears nothing is there. i went on to explain a little more about our eyes too. like how our eyes cannot pick up certain wavelengths and whatnot. we have to use indirect means of 'seeing' these particles. i was inspired to go look at some cool science books at barnes and noble after work. some pretty interesting stuff was there. the most intriguing was this particular chapter in this science book, the title slips my mind at the moment. but the chapter was about... life. what is life? it was a well written portion. most people think of life as objects which move, think, and grow. this book introduced a different viewpoint. there was a comparison between a rock flowing down a waterfall and a gecko swimming against the waterfall. the rock is obeying the basic laws of physics. it's being pushed by the water and falls due to gravity. the gecko is climbing up on different branches to get to the top. the gecko is defying the natural laws of physics. well, not really defying physics, more like... going against the natural order of things. the basic idea that is supposed to be extracted from this is that... unanimate/non-living objects are predictable. classic newtonian laws can describe how most things move in the world. living objects are ones that are unpredictable. like birds for instance, you can predict a bird will fly up into the sky, but the can detect a worm and go walk towards the worm instead. whereas, wind blowing a leaf will always flow with the direction of the wind, though it may be chaotic. yeah, books are interesting! wait... i mean... uhh... pancakes..... oh yeah, i finally passed LoM on doubles, so i can pass every single song (on ddr) on singles and doubles.

today was the first day i've ever really noticed rain. ok, so i have seen rain before, but not as indepth as i looked at it today. i was walking to my assembly programming class in the evening when i noticed it was raining a fair amount. i kind of look up into the sky, which i've been doing a lot lately it seems, and... right as im walking under a light, theres millions of little drops free falling into my face. i stopped for a second to just... stare up into the sky where all of these tiny droplets are created. it was really pretty for some reason. i dont know why i never really noticed the rain like that before. im more of a summer/spring sun guy myself, but just looking at rain in that perspective really makes me think it isnt so bad. after class, i was walking back out to my car and a parked car had its lights on. the puddles in front of the car were illuminated and the rain just splashed hundreds of times into all these bodies of water. some things are just so fascinating to me. i dont know why... i think its because i have one of those old souls... damn all you young'ins and your youthful souls! *shakes fist* (b-_-)b

i almost hit a deer on the way home tonight... i was goin 65 on a 55 and was half-dazed thinking about how maybe i should go slower. then a deer caught sight of my headlights, and you know how that goes (deer caught in headlights), i swerved into the other lane to avoid the guy and continued moving along...

in other news... i just finished watching kill bill 1 and 2 for the first time! wow, those were some interesting movies... i know most people have already seen both of them, im a little outdated on the cinematic scene. the first one was so violent and gory... wasnt expecting that much violence... reminded me of dawn of the dead... pointless violence... the second one was all philisophical, at least i think it was trying to be... i think im more partial to the second one because it seemed to be a little more balanced as well as humorous.

mmm.... update.... i mean.... pancakes....

lets see.... planning out some things. next year i get to move away to a UC! looks like im gonna be planning for UCDavis. good skewl. UCBerkeley sounds pretty cool too, but i dont know about the competition there... its tough i hear... but that might be a good thing considering it would look very good on a resume. im doin alright in my classes this semester. seem to be gettin lots of that chem h/w... got some physics h/w, but other than those classes, everything is just gravy. oh yeah, im thinking, perhaps i should take some parts from various computers and put them together and make a crude linux server... it might be kind of neat...

why yes, it is very early in the morning. you're probably thinking... "he's up really early... or up really late" so... which is it you say? i honestly don't know >.< i went to bed... but im not sure if i fell asleep or not... its a little wierd. i think i did... anywhoodles. its probably the piece of kappicheen0 cake i had thats keeping me from sleeping... yeah... thats it... cause it was my brother's birthday yesterday and i picked up a kapichin0 cake for him.

i guess i was just thinking about things (*gasp* its that thinking time again! he thinks too much...) people intrigue me very much so. im not sure why. i am easily amused... but yeah. you know how people have 5 senses, well most people... hearing, sight, taste, etc... its just sort of odd to me how sometimes people can see things, but not really see things. for instance, one could look at something physically, but... not really see or know whats truely going on. does that even make any sense? iono. but... its a choice right? to be able to put in the effort to try to understand whats going on when you see something. or maybe its not a choice to be able to perceive. maybe... its just an ability that people develop through experience. maybe perception is just an extended or enhanced version of logic. gahhh, mind rambling again. i'd... write more about it, except that... i tihnk im tired... hmm... perhaps i didnt fall asleep... oh well.

oh yeah, trip to LA went well. went to places and anime expo. yey~! <--- in case anybody was wondering.

so yeah, thought i'd update this here thing... been werkin on dan's computer. got all the hardware werking, i hope... its just being stubborn and not allowing me to put an OS on it... >.< oh well, it'll be gewd... i'll just have to coax it into operation... i've just been wondering a lot, oh wait, i do that a lot anyways... peh. but yeah, there's a potentially stupid choice that i could make. at least... it might be stupid, but it would be sooo very nice... and yes, the question of teh day! what are you thinking? why are you thinking that? when you make a choice/decision, do you try to take in all the consquences, good and bad that can come about it? or do you just... lazily do whatever the hell you want to do. perhaps it is just a conscious to be lazy and not take into account so many factors. i suppose it is easier to not put any depth into a thought or action... i guess im just wondering whats the logic/reasoning behind your actions... it seems that there are few people who actually have a purpose or goal when they do things. or i dont know. maybe im just unperceptive and everybody has a reason for their actions that i dont see... that might be the case. i hope it is... yeah, so i just wonder... what people are thinking, and why they think that way... is there any criteria behind that thought and/or action... i should stop wondering so much... >.

yey for summar! no more classes~! i was thinking of taking a summar course, but... then i really thought about it... and... no. heheh. i signed up for fall classes and paid for them already. i figure maybe i can get away with paying before they increase the cost per unit. that, and i have this bad habit of waiting to the last minute before i sign up and have to do all this wait list stuff... so yeah, signed up for 17 units in the fall. seems like a lot... im thinking not taking the philosophy class... but it sound neat... oh well, i have the whole summar to decide. it looks like i'll be busy for at least 2 weeks of the summar break. the week before july 4th, i'll be flying down to LA and staying with my cousins there for a week. they want to take me to the anime expo and magic mountain... i dont really know why either... then i'll be traveling with them all the way back up to here so they can stay with us for a week. wow... thats a really long... vacation time thingy for me... it'll be crazy... i guess i've been thinking a lot recently, just some things on my mind. and i dont actually have the urge to go and play ddr! yeah, i usually play ddr to... sort of think... or not think.... i dont know. quite an odd game ddr is for me. i dont even know what to think of ddr anymore. i dont think of it as a game, just something to do. i dont really play for fun, well it is fun, but... i just play it. its wierd, ive tried to look at what im thinking about when i play ddr, and... i dont really think of anything. its like my mind goes blank and im just visualizing arrows flying up at the screen absorbing the music, the sounds and flashing lights. i guess its not really a game for me, its like a relaxing thing to do. hahah, yeah... ddr is relaxing, and tiring at the same time. god i have some wierd thoughts... anywhoodles... i should end this entry with a question... everybody has heard of luck before. and its odd, i think. to be lucky or unlucky. to be fortunate, or unfortunate. is it... an excuse? like to cover up for protruding character flaws? or is it really luck? maybe it just depends on the situation... some people are said to have good luck, or maybe they manipulate their odds to increase their chances of luck... but if they manipulate it... is it luck? then... isnt it... not luck? i imagine it must be a mixture of both... but.. what does it mean to be fortunate or lucky?

gotta love those days when you can't fall asleep... i couldn't fall asleep easily yesterday =/ and once again, tonite i can't seem to drift myself asleep... it must of have been that free red bull i got today at skewl... my mind is all active right now. my eyes are heavy and tired, but my mind is simply just not tired. i think i've just been reviewing chemistry in my head for the past 30 or 40 minutes... i figured if i was gonna be awake, i might as well make use of the time... finals week is approaching and it appears that everything is coming together. i don't really have to worry about weights or astronomy final. weights is... yeah just... *shrugs* lifting weights or soemthing... i don't know what that final is, but its nothing to worry about. astronomy is gonna be open note and open book. my physics final is going to also be open book and open calculator! yey! i finally can use a calculator in my physics class! i don't think i'm gonna be needing though... if my teacher models his final similar to his other tests... oh well. but i don't think i need to worry about that final either. i thought chemistry was going to get a little tougher as we are heading into the organic portion. it is slightly tougher; there's more memorization but it seems to be sticking fairly well. DE (differential equations) is the class i must worry the most about at this point. fortunately we've already passed the hardest portion of the class. just have to work away at those laplace transforms and i should be set. i'll probably end up meeting up with glen and grahm to study some more for that. but overall i suppose i should be more stressed because the semester is almost over. i've prepped pretty well i think... and its paid off. yey! i skipped a few DE classes earlier in the semester, but i've actually been going the past month, hehe. i know matt and dan are probably disappointed because they haven't gotten a ride to the birdcage area anymore because i've actually been going to class =\ sorry D: lets see.... oh yeah, grahm showed me his RX-7 today. it looks pretty good. its super-charged and souped up very nice. he works for a rotary specialist so he can get some good deals and use their equipment for free! hes gonna fit a bigger engy into it, hes got to move the radiator up front, so he has to cut into the frame to fit the radiator in, and thus fit the larger block in. i wish i could things like that... and get paid to do it, haha. anywhoodles... i believe thats about it for the update... oh yeah, kings lost tonite D:

hey.... how about that loop quantum gravity eh? sounds pretty crazy but apparently its testable. geez... i dont even know how einstein does it. i would only get so far as to why gravity worked... and now theres so many people involved in combining quantum physics and relativity... anywhoodles, loop quantum gravity seems to make sense. even more so than string theory. of course maybe the universe cannot be represented in a simple form... we could be just assuming that the universe can be simplistically represented when in actuality it is too complicated. ah well. i suppose it is human nature to be curious.

yey for having relatives from SJ come up to visit unexpectedly... crazy little alan and christine... they have so much energy! and they use it all on me! D: my arm got all red and sore just from them pinching me so much... its alan's birthday this weekend so he wanted to come up here and visit me =/ man... they both just have... so much energy and craziness... i dont remember having that kind of outgoingness. when i was that young, i dont think i was hyper at all... hmm... come to think of it... im not really hyper still... but yeah. little kids, they're just so... interesting to me. i definitely like my lil cousins from LA better... because they're older and abuse me slightly less... hmm... even them, they're pretty hyper sometimes. i dont remember myself being hyper at all.... so crazy... oh well. i am done consuming my midnight sandwich snack. now its time to go back to bed...
